Total mileage today would've been 71 but I opted to ride in the van to the first SAG stop. I've decided that 65 miles is about my limit these days. And today's ride was made even better when I convinced Patty, our guide, to drive a couple of miles out of the way for a morning Starbucks.
The whole route today was just lovely. Flat, smooth roads with very little traffic, and very rural. At about the halfway point we crossed the Savannah river to enter South Carolina. Tonight and tomorrow night we are staying in Point South. According to Wikipedia this is not even a town, but an unincorporated community. Not much here but a hotel and a Denny's, so tomorrow will truly be a rest day. Much needed.
Lovely live oak tree |
typical of most of today's ride |
No "welcome to South Carolina" sign, so this will have to do |
It's that 12 year old boy again.... The 12 year old boy in me also wants to make something out of the name of the river we crossed today, the Coosawhatchie. |

Omigod, that tree! And the way it framed the house in that shot. Just a great picture, Vickie. I sure am enjoying your ride. --Judy N.
